Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the significant role of the Indian film industry in fostering cultural unity and contributing to national progress, particularly under the ethos of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
In the latest episode of his monthly radio show, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi spoke about the global influence of Indian cinema. This sector is not only playing a crucial role in the nation’s development but also propelling our economy forward.”
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to pay tribute to iconic figures in Indian cinema whose centenaries are being commemorated in 2024. He acknowledged the contributions of Raj Kapoor, highlighting how he showcased India’s soft power through his films. PM Modi praised Mohammad Rafi’s enchanting voice, which continues to resonate with the younger audience, and noted Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s efforts in enhancing Telugu cinema that celebrates Indian culture and values. Furthermore, he recognized Tapan Sinha for opening societal dialogues through his work, thereby promoting social awareness and national integration.
