PM Narendra Modi Applauds Hanumankind for Celebrating Traditional Indian Martial Arts in ‘Run It Up’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently commended rapper Hanumankind for his portrayal of traditional Indian martial arts in the music video for his latest track, “Run It Up.”
The Prime Minister highlighted Hanumankind’s impactful representation of various indigenous sports during his broadcasted address, Mann Ki Baat. He expressed appreciation for the way the rapper showcases Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art from Kerala, alongside other regional traditions such as Gatka and Thang-ta.
In his address, PM Modi remarked, “You must be aware of the popular rapper Hanumankind. These days, his new song, Run it Up, is becoming quite famous. In the music video, our traditional martial arts like Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-ta are included in the clip. I want to congratulate Hanumankind because thanks to him, people everywhere are now getting to know about these traditional sports.”
Hanumankind’s “Run It Up,” which premiered on March 7, effectively highlights the richness and diversity of Indian culture with its incorporation of at least seven traditional folk elements. By featuring Kalaripayattu from Kerala, Mardani Khel from Maharashtra, Gatka from Punjab, and Thang-ta from Manipur, the track serves as a tribute to the country’s vast and varied heritage. The song has gained traction on numerous music streaming platforms, securing its place as a popular hit.
Known for his bold lyricism and distinctive flow, Hanumankind’s music often intertwines hip-hop with elements of Indian culture. He frequently addresses social issues through his work while bringing traditional art forms to the forefront. His previous release, “Big Dawgs,” was produced by Kalmi and directed by Bijoy Shetty, earning him international acclaim and positioning it among the top ten on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 charts after its release on July 10, 2024.
