Pokimane has openly acknowledged that her remarks joking about financially struggling viewers were inappropriate, especially following the criticism she faced after the launch of her Myna Cookies brand.
After the November 2023 debut of Myna Cookies, the Twitch sensation was met with immediate backlash regarding high prices. In response, she referred to the dissatisfied customers as “broke boys.”
Additionally, some critics suspected that Myna was merely a rebranding of existing cookie products, a claim which Pokimane worked to refute promptly.
In a conversation with YouTubers Colin and Samir on February 13, Pokimane reflected on her previous comments and expressed regret.
Pokimane discusses her “broke” comment
“I recognize that as someone who often reacts humorously, I’ve made comments that were ill-advised,” she stated.
“While engaging back and forth is part of my personality that has contributed to my success, I realize that such comments may not always be appropriate, especially during a product launch,” she continued.
She acknowledged this incident as a significant lesson in her journey of entrepreneurship: “It’s important to consider the context and timing of my words when launching products.”

In her conversation, Pokimane shared that being a public figure with millions discussing her can induce anxiety, which influences her reactions to online discourse.
Beyond the cookie launch, Pokimane revealed during the podcast that she invests over $10,000 monthly on a security team to combat the proliferation of AI-generated deepfakes of her image online.
