Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has emerged as the most-followed female figure on Twitch. Beyond her gaming prowess, she has diversified her brand, launching a snack company and even gracing the Grammy Awards. Although she enjoys tremendous financial success, the challenges that come with her celebrity status have proven to be significant.
During a podcast episode on February 12, hosted by YouTube creators Colin and Samir, Pokimane candidly discussed the extensive measures she takes to safeguard herself from potential online threats, including harassment and stalking.
Pokimane spends “five figures” monthly on online security
Pokimane revealed that her monthly expenses for online security reach a staggering “five figures plus.” This substantial amount is allocated to various companies and teams dedicated to protecting her identity against threats such as doxxing, deepfakes, and unauthorized use of her image and likeness.
She expressed her concerns about evolving digital threats, stating, “To be honest, there are just new problems now that didn’t exist five years ago.” The emergence of AI technology has particularly alarmed her, as it has facilitated the unauthorized use of her voice and image.
Detailing her proactive measures, Pokimane shared how she employs professionals to monitor the internet for any leaks of her residential information. Furthermore, she goes to the extent of renovating her living spaces upon moving to avoid detection from remaining online images.
“I literally have people that I have to pay monthly to essentially scour and see whether my address is online anywhere and then take it down,” she explained, expressing a wish for a more normal existence.
