The Calgary Police Service is conducting an investigation following the death of a man who sustained severe injuries during a reported disturbance outside a business in the city’s southeastern region. The incident occurred early Monday morning.
According to a statement from law enforcement, officers arrived at the Portico Lounge on 35th Street Southeast around 5 a.m., responding to calls indicating that several individuals were involved in a disruptive incident.
Upon their arrival, police discovered indications of an altercation and signs that someone was experiencing medical distress. Approximately 20 minutes later, they were informed that a critically injured individual had been transported to the Peter Lougheed Centre, where he later passed away from his injuries.

Investigators have indicated that they believe the man who died was likely injured outside the lounge where the disturbance took place. As part of their ongoing inquiry, officers are examining the scene, interviewing potential witnesses, and looking for available CCTV footage. Officials suspect that there may be additional witnesses who have not yet contacted the police.
