Pooja Hegde Expresses Frustration Over Interviewer’s Focus on Big Heroes

Actress reacts to persistent questions about her collaborations with top Bollywood actors.

Pooja Hegde, the talented actress currently promoting her film “Deva” alongside Shahid Kapoor, recently encountered a challenging interview situation. During a session with E24, she grew visibly frustrated after being pressed repeatedly about her opportunities working with prominent Bollywood stars.

In the interview, questions revolved around whether luck had played a significant role in her career, particularly in landing roles with well-known actors such as Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor. Initially calm, Hegde’s demeanor shifted when the same query was posed multiple times, prompting her to confront the interviewer directly about the nature of the questions.

The interviewer posed a pointed question: “Kya ye sirf luck tha ke aate hi aapne Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, saare bade heroes ke saath filmein mil rahi hai. You think luck plays a role? Or you think you actually deserve it?” (Was it purely luck that led you to work with all these big stars? Do you think luck plays a part, or do you feel you deserve it?). Although startled by the inquiry, Hegde asserted, “I mean…of course I deserve it. I think there must have been some reason jo unhone mujhe cast kiya tha wo films mein.” (There must have been a reason why they cast me in those films).

As the conversation continued, the interviewer noted that actors transitioning from South Indian cinema to Bollywood often face considerable hurdles to achieve the same level of success. Hegde responded thoughtfully, saying, “I think there’s a saying that ‘luck is when opportunity meets preparation.’ I think that’s what happened with me. When the opportunity came, I was preparing myself to be able to do it. So, if you want to call it luck, then sure.” However, when the interviewer further pressed her about her film choices, her frustration peaked, leading her to ask, “Aapko kya problem hai mere se?” (What’s your problem with me?).

To ease the tension, Shahid Kapoor interjected humorously, suggesting that the interviewer might harbor a desire to join in on the dance sequences with those leading men, wanting to be like Hegde’s co-stars.

Pooja Hegde first entered the acting scene in 2012 with the Tamil film “Mugamoodi” and made her Hindi film debut in 2016 opposite Hrithik Roshan in “Mohenjo Daro.” Since then, she has appeared in several successful films, including “Housefull 4,” “Cirkus,” and “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.” Her latest release, “Deva,” hit theaters on January 31, 2025, showcasing her continuing journey in the film industry.
