Edwin Castro Loses Malibu Home to Pacific Palisades Wildfire
Edwin Castro, the California resident who made headlines for winning a staggering $2 billion lottery jackpot in 2023, has become a recent casualty of the devastating Pacific Palisades wildfires. His beachfront property in Malibu was reportedly completely consumed by the flames.
Sources indicate that Castro’s home, a two-bedroom, three-bathroom residence valued at approximately $3.8 million, has been entirely destroyed. Images from the scene reveal nothing but remnants of the wooden foundation, highlighting the extent of the damage inflicted by the fire.
While he has lost this particular property, Castro is said to have a diverse real estate portfolio across Los Angeles. Among his holdings is a luxurious property in the Hollywood Hills, purchased for just over $25 million following his lottery win.
In addition to his Hollywood Hills home, Castro owns a residence in Altadena, a community located in the northeastern region of Los Angeles, which is also threatened by fires. Fortunately, reports confirm that his Altadena property remains untouched and safe amid the ongoing crisis.
Following his lottery victory, Castro experienced a surge in public recognition but chose to maintain a low profile. Nonetheless, he faced legal challenges when another individual claimed to have the winning ticket. Castro ultimately triumphed in that lawsuit last October.
The Pacific Palisades wildfires have not only affected Castro; numerous celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Whitney Cummings, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, John Goodman, Jhené Aiko, Anna Faris, and Anthony Hopkins, have also lost their homes in the disaster. The fire has grown to encompass over 19,000 acres, raising concerns about further destruction in the area.
