Actor Imanvi, making her debut alongside Prabhas in Fauji, counters unsubstantiated claims regarding her family’s alleged connections to the Pakistan army.
Imanvi refutes false claims connecting her family to the Pakistan military.
Imanvi, the emerging actress set to appear with Prabhas in the upcoming film Fauji, has publicly addressed and dismissed false accusations suggesting her family had past ties to the Pakistan army before migrating to the United States. This clarification follows the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, prompting calls from social media users for her removal from the film project.
Amidst the outcry, numerous social media users began spreading unfounded claims about Imanvi, whose full name is Iman Esmail. Some alleged that her family had military associations in Pakistan, where her father purportedly served as a Major prior to relocating to the USA. These rumors intensified, leading to calls for a boycott of her involvement in Fauji. In response, Imanvi took to Instagram to publish an open letter clarifying her family background.
In her statement, she conveyed her heartfelt sympathies for the victims of the Pahalgam incident. Addressing the swirling controversy, Imanvi wrote, “I want to clarify the falsehoods surrounding my identity and my family’s background, propagated by misleading news outlets and online forums to incite division and hate. I can assure you that no one in my family has ever had any association with the Pakistani military. These destructive narratives have been fabricated by online trolls aiming to spread animosity, and it’s disheartening to see even credible media organizations and journalists fail to verify their facts and amplify these damaging claims.”
Imanvi proudly identifies as an Indian-American, fluent in Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, and English. She shared that she was born in Los Angeles, California, after her parents emigrated legally from India during their youth and subsequently became U.S. citizens. After completing her higher education in the United States, she pursued a career in the performing arts as an actor, choreographer, and dancer.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunities she has been given in the Indian film industry, Imanvi reflected on the profound impact this industry has had on her life. She aspires to carry forward the legacy of the pioneers who have come before her. Emphasizing her strong connection to Indian culture, she stated her intent to use her platform as a means of fostering unity rather than creating division.
“During this time of mourning for the lives lost, let us remain focused on spreading love and supporting one another. Art has historically served as a bridge connecting diverse cultures and experiences, generating empathy and awareness. I am committed to ensuring that this tradition persists, highlighting the richness of my Indian heritage through my work,” she concluded her message.
