Preity Zinta celebrated PBKS openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh after their explosive half-centuries against KKR.
Preity Zinta is known for her unwavering support of the Punjab Kings (PBKS), and her recent gesture following a rain-affected match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) highlights her dedication to the team.
After witnessing a thrilling display of cricket from young players Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, Zinta took to social media to commend their remarkable efforts. Their outstanding performances against KKR not only showcased their talent but also significantly advanced their positions in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap standings, with Priyansh securing the 9th position and Prabhsimran at 12th.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Zinta shared a joyful selfie with the players and expressed her admiration. She noted, “Last night rain played spoilt sport, but not enough to dampen the spirits of our two young explosive openers.”
Zinta expressed pride in their fearless play, stating, “Prabhsimran has been with us from the start when he was just a teenager, and this is Priyansh’s very first IPL! I’m so proud to see both of them play fearlessly and with such maturity, complementing each other and becoming the base of Punjab Power.”
Prabhsimran Singh delivered a standout performance, scoring 83 runs off just 49 deliveries, which included six boundaries and an equal number of sixes. His partnership with Priyansh Arya was pivotal, culminating in a remarkable 120-run opening partnership in just 10.3 overs. This partnership stands as the joint second-highest opening stand in IPL 2025 and also marks the highest ever opening partnership for PBKS against KKR, surpassing the previous record of 116 runs set by Chris Gayle and KL Rahul in 2018.
Regrettably, the match concluded without a definitive result due to rain, and the teams had to share a point at Eden Gardens. Nonetheless, the explosive performances of the openers propelled PBKS to fourth place in the league standings, bolstering their chances for a playoff spot, while KKR remained in seventh place.
