Penguin Random House has confirmed that the paperback edition of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, is set to be released in the United States on October 22.
In the U.K., the memoir will be published by Transworld on October 24. The paperback version will be made available in 16 different languages across various regions, including Asia, Europe, and South America. Notably, the hardcover edition was issued in 37 languages worldwide.
Spare achieved significant commercial success, securing the #3 spot on Publishers Weekly‘s annual bestseller list for 2023 with sales totaling 1.2 million copies in outlets tracked by NPD BookScan. Penguin Random House also noted that the memoir has exceeded 6 million copies sold globally and set a Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling nonfiction book.
A review from Publishers Weekly characterized Spare as an “anguished, searching, and occasionally vindictive memoir.” The review highlighted the juxtaposition of personal revelations with candid expressions of frustration, noting, “The mix of dirty laundry and earnest soul-baring sometimes jars, but Harry’s frustrations are deeply felt and authentically conveyed, as is the joy he takes in nature and in his friendships. This royal family tell-all delivers.”
