Puerto Rican Artists Publicly Endorse Trump at Pennsylvania Rally

Reggaeton artists Anuel AA and Justin Quiles made headlines during a recent political rally for former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, declaring the GOP candidate as “the best president the world has seen.” The rally took place at the 1st Summit Arena in Johnstown on August 30, 2024.

Trump welcomed the Puerto Rican musicians onstage, referring to them as “musical legends.” He expressed confidence that “every Puerto Rican is going to vote for Trump,” underscoring his appeal within that community.

As they took the stage, both artists donned red MAGA hats, showcasing their support for Trump’s campaign. Anuel AA, hailing from Carolina, Puerto Rico, addressed the crowd, reflecting on the struggles Puerto Rico has faced in recent years. He noted the perceived inaction from other politicians, stating, “I’m from Puerto Rico, and since Trump hasn’t been around, it’s not a secret we’ve been going through a lot as a country. Biden always promised – a lot of politicians promised through the years. All of us know … the best president the world has seen, this country has ever seen – his name is President Trump.”

Unity Among Puerto Ricans

Anuel encouraged unity among Puerto Ricans, appealing to his fellow citizens to support Trump, claiming that the former president is genuinely interested in aiding the island’s growth. “I personally spoke with him; he wants to help Puerto Rico grow and succeed as a country,” he affirmed.

Moreover, he emphasized Trump’s commitment to assisting Latinos in the U.S., encouraging a collective effort to “make America great again.”

Support from Latin Music Scene

Justin Quiles, another prominent figure in the Latin music industry, echoed Anuel’s sentiments. He praised Trump for not conforming to political norms and for his perceived honesty. Known for his expressive style, Quiles affirmed, “A lot of Latinos, we stand strong next to President Trump. Thank you for sharing how important building Puerto Rico up again is, and not just Puerto Rico — let’s make America great again!”

After the artists’ speeches, Trump expressed gratitude for their endorsements, thanking them for their “great” words in front of a cheering crowd.

A Unique Moment in the Election Cycle

The presence of Anuel AA and Justin Quiles at the rally is notable, given it’s the first significant endorsement from major Latin artists during this election season. While other musicians have voiced varying degrees of support for Trump, this event marked a pivotal moment with prominent figures from the Puerto Rican community actively aligning with the candidate.

Following the rally, both artists shared their experiences on social media. Quiles posted a photo with Trump, humorously wearing a MAGA hat as the former president showcased a white cap stating, “Make Puerto Rico Great Again.”
