Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection: Allu Arjun Film Remains Resilient Amid Controversy
Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2, debuted in theaters on December 5, and despite various controversies surrounding its leading actor, it has continued to perform remarkably well at the box office.
Pushpa 2 Box Office Collection Day 18: The film has demonstrated impressive box office stamina, completing three weekends since its release. On Sunday, the 18th day of its theatrical run, Pushpa 2 managed to cross the significant milestone of Rs 1050 Cr in total earnings. By the end of Sunday, its cumulative box office collection in India reached Rs 1062 Cr.
Reports from Sacnilk indicate that Pushpa 2 secured Rs 33.25 Cr on Sunday alone. Breaking down the earnings, the Telugu version of the film generated Rs 5.7 Cr, while the Hindi version outperformed with Rs 26.75 Cr. Consequently, the Hindi version’s overall earnings have now totaled Rs 679.65 Cr.
Context of the Pushpa 2 Stampede Incident:
Amidst these box office successes, Allu Arjun faced serious challenges following a tragic incident at the film’s premiere. A woman lost her life during a stampede outside Sandhya Theatre after the actor made an unexpected appearance. This incident led to his brief arrest and subsequent release on bail. Allu Arjun has since expressed his condolences and offered assistance to the deceased’s family, although the situation continues to escalate for him.
On December 22, a group of protesters vandalized Allu Arjun’s residence, demanding accountability regarding the stampede. These individuals, reportedly linked to the Osmania University Joint Action Committee, expressed their anger by throwing tomatoes and damaging property.
Footage shared on social media captured moments of the protest, where demonstrators burned an effigy of Allu Arjun while chanting slogans seeking justice for the victim from the Sandhya Theatre incident.
In response to the unrest, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy condemned the actions of the protesters and instructed the state’s Director General of Police and the city police commissioner to take appropriate measures to ensure public safety. Meanwhile, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has branded the incidents as “state-sponsored terrorism.”
As a result of the protests, authorities have detained at least six individuals for their roles in the vandalism at the actor’s home.
