Theater performer and Nashville recording artist Rachel Potter, recognized for roles on Fox’s “The X Factor” and in Broadway productions such as The Addams Family and Evita, has launched her new single, “The Animazement Trio,” from her forthcoming album, Stages. Released on Friday, April 18, the track comprises medleys of three beloved Disney songs: “Just Around the Riverbend” from Pocahontas, “Go the Distance” from Hercules, and “Out There” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This marks the first time these classics have been compiled into a single release, featuring contributions from Jamey Ray and EJ Cardona, artists from the notable a cappella group Voctave.
The full album is set to debut on Friday, May 16, under the newly minted Joy Machine Records, which will distribute it through streaming services, digital platforms, and physical CD format. Produced by David Wise, Stages is a carefully curated selection of reinterpreted Broadway classics, highlighting Rachel’s deep-seated ties to musical theater and her enthusiasm for transforming these iconic pieces with rich orchestral arrangements. This album promises a thrilling auditory journey that combines both traditional and modern influences, showcasing recent theatrical works that often go unheard outside their originating productions.
Rachel expressed her excitement, stating, “My dream has always been to sign a record deal. The journey that brought me to Nashville in 2013 was fueled by that aspiration. It feels poetic that, after all the years of pursuing that goal, embracing my true self as an artist and honoring my Broadway heritage through this album has made that dream a reality. I am incredibly grateful to collaborate with the talented team at Joy Machine Records for Stages. They are remarkable advocates for the Broadway artist community and also part of it, which makes the partnership even more special. Their dedication to elevating Broadway works within the music industry is inspiring, and I look forward to the joy we can create together. Thank you, Joy Machine, for believing in Stages and in me!”
Three prior singles from Stages have already been unveiled: “Come What May / The I Love You Song,” a mashup from Moulin Rouge! and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, featuring Omar Cardona and Marty Thomas; “Pulled,” a number Rachel performed during her time in The Addams Family on Broadway; and “My Days,” a song written by Ingrid Michaelson for the musical adaptation of The Notebook.
Stages, engineered by Garth Justice and mastered by Alan Silverman, includes orchestrations from various talented composers, including Ned Ginsburg, Bradley Knight, Rob Potorff, Nathaniel Semsen, David Shipps, and Greg Sims.
