Rachika Nayar and Nina Keith Launch New Musical Project Disiniblud

Brooklyn-based composer and experimental artist Rachika Nayar has teamed up with Philadelphia’s composer and multi-instrumentalist Nina Keith to create a captivating new duo known as Disiniblud. Their debut album, which shares the same name as the duo, is set to be released on July 18 through Smugglers Way. The album features a series of thought-provoking tracks, including the singles “It’s Change,” which includes contributions from artists like Willy Siegel, Katie Dey, and Julianna Barwick, as well as “Blue Rags, Raging Wind,” featuring Amigone. Listeners can enjoy both tracks below.

Nayar and Keith’s collaboration began four years ago when they met in a park after expressing admiration for each other’s music online. From the outset, they envisioned a future collaboration. Describing their work as a ā€œwordless conversation,ā€ Disiniblud delves into themes of mortality, self-discovery, and the sense of wonder often retained from childhood. Nayar noted, ā€œIt’s not about healing and moving past the darkness,ā€ while Keith added that their approach involves accepting both light and shadow as integral parts of life, ultimately allowing them to coexist.

The debut album also showcases a range of featured artists, including Cassandra Croft, June McDoom, Aspidistrafly, and Noriko Tujiko, adding a rich tapestry of sounds and influences throughout the project. For fans eager to explore the complete tracklist, it can be found below.

For those interested in Nayar’s previous work, her album Heaven Come Crashing earned a spot in “The 50 Best Albums of 2022,” and she was featured in an insightful interview titled ā€œRachika Nayar’s Fog-Machine Dreamscapes.ā€
