“Angrezi Medium”: A Tribute to Irrfan Khan’s Legacy
As “Angrezi Medium” marked its fifth anniversary on March 13, actress Radhikka Madan took a moment to honor the late Irrfan Khan, her co-star in the film, through a heartfelt message shared on social media. This film holds a special place in the hearts of many, as it was the last to be released before Khan’s untimely passing on April 29, 2020.
In her tribute, Radhikka posted several behind-the-scenes images from the movie’s set, expressing her gratitude and reminiscing about the impact of her character. She wrote, “The ‘Tarika’ in me is still alive! This little girl with big dreams in her eyes, the drive to conquer the world and take on anything that life offers her! An outsider is always looking for that one opportunity and THIS was my opportunity. I can never thank @homster and @maddockfilms enough for this. #5yearsOfAngreziMedium. Always remembering you fondly @irrfan sir.”
Further highlighting her appreciation, Radhikka shared a recent photograph of herself holding Tarika’s signature glasses, stating, “Ps- The last picture was clicked in the morning today. Yes, I still have Tarika’s glasses.” This personal touch showed the deep connection she maintains with her role and the film itself.
In addition to her own reflections, Radhikka also displayed a handwritten note from none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who commended her performance in “Angrezi Medium.” The note expressed his admiration: “This is Amitabh Bachchan, and I write to you with the greatest of admiration for your work in Angrezi Medium. I saw the film yesterday, and just could not resist writing to you. What a mature and balanced performance you have given. Prosperity & all success to you.”
“Angrezi Medium” narrates the poignant tale of a father’s relentless pursuit to help his daughter achieve her dreams. Directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Maddock Films, the film serves as a standalone sequel to the 2017 hit “Hindi Medium.” Alongside Irrfan and Radhikka, the film features notable performances by Deepak Dobriyal and Kareena Kapoor.
Irrfan Khan’s performance in “Angrezi Medium” remains a testament to his exceptional talent and versatility as an actor. Unfortunately, he succumbed to neuroendocrine cancer at the age of 53 shortly after the film’s release, which occurred in Indian theaters on March 13, 2020.
