Radhikka Madan Shares Insights on Her Role in Sarfira
Actress Expresses Gratitude for Positive Reception While Reflecting on Personal Growth
Radhikka Madan is currently enjoying the praise garnered for her performance in the film Sarfira, which features Akshay Kumar and is a remake of the Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru. Despite the film receiving commendations from critics and fans alike, its box office start has been described as tepid. Radhikka commented on this discrepancy, expressing her desire for more viewers to experience the film. “I wish more people go and see the film but it’s not in my hands. Whoever has seen it has given it a lot of love but I hope Sarfira gets a lot more,” she shared, highlighting her hopeful outlook for its future.
In discussing the film’s commercial success, Radhikka revealed her tendency to refrain from heavily scrutinizing box office figures. She emphasized her focus on delivering a genuine performance rather than the financial aspects of filmmaking. “What was in my control was my performance and imparting a certain kind of truth there and I’ve done that. I’m always ready to do what the makers ask me to do for the film,” she stated. Radhikka trusts in the abilities of her directors and producers to manage the film’s promotion and box office strategy.
The film Sarfira has defied typical expectations for remakes, receiving exceptional praise from actors within the industry, including Dulquer Salmaan, who publicly acknowledged its quality. “It has been overwhelming. I just feel so grateful right now. I’ve been getting messages and calls every day,” Radhikka expressed, reflecting on the positive feedback she has received.
In particular, Akshay Kumar praised Radhikka’s portrayal of a Maharashtrian girl, claiming it to be her best work yet. When asked about his compliment, she humbly characterized it as a significant validation, revealing her surprise at his kind words. “It was gracious of him to say that. That just shows how secure he is as a person,” she noted, appreciating his support.
Radhikka also shared how her role in the film facilitated personal healing, pulling her from a challenging emotional period. “Rani came into my life when I was doing Sanaa, which was a very dark film. And Rani came as a breath of fresh air,” she explained. The character’s uninhibited nature reminded her of her true self, helping to alleviate fears she had been grappling with. “It’s bizarre how characters come to you to take you out of a particular space,” she reflected, expressing gratitude for the transformative impact of her role.
In a personal update, Radhikka mentioned she recently altered the spelling of her name from Radhika to Radhikka, following in the footsteps of several other actors. She attributed this change to her mother’s belief in numerology, emphasizing the importance of familial happiness. “Maa ko khush rakhna bahut important hai. There’s no other reason but this,” she concluded, highlighting the significance of family in her life choices.
