Raghu Ram Shares Experience of Cultural Differences with Ajith Kumar on Good Bad Ugly Set
Raghu Ram is set to appear alongside Ajith Kumar in the forthcoming film Good Bad Ugly. In a recent interview, Raghu recounted an incident that arose during the filming, where he was reprimanded for referring to Ajith by his first name instead of addressing him as ‘sir.’ This experience highlighted the cultural nuances that can exist on a movie set.
In his discussion with India Today, Raghu Ram reflected on his initial misunderstanding of the dynamics between co-stars on set. Having grown up in Delhi and spent time working in Mumbai, he noted that it was common in those environments to address superiors by their names. This approach proved to be a misunderstanding when he met Ajith on set.
He shared, “At first, I struggled with this distinction. When Ajith introduced himself, I noted that he was about my age, which led me to call him by his name. The response was rather uncomfortable.”
The actor detailed how the director and assistant director responded to his casual address. “They explicitly told me it was inappropriate,” Raghu explained. “After what seemed like a shocked silence from the crew, it became clear that I had unintentionally created an awkward situation. I later assured them I would switch to ‘sir’ not out of fault on Ajith’s part but to ease any discomfort among the team.”
Raghu Ram made his Bollywood debut with the film Jhootha Hi Sahi in 2010 and has since expanded his repertoire to include popular web series like A.I.SHA My Virtual Girlfriend (2019) and Jamnapaar (2024). His work spans a variety of South Indian films, including Doctor (2021), Keedaa Cola (2023), and Mechanic Rocky (2024).
His most recent appearance was in the Telugu film Mechanic Rocky, which featured Vishwak Sen in a dual role along with Meenakshi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath.
Directed by Adhik Ravichandran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series Films, Good Bad Ugly is a Tamil action-comedy that showcases Ajith Kumar in the leading role. Additionally, the film boasts a talented cast including Trisha Krishnan, Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Sunil, Rahul Dev, Yogi Babu, and Shine Tom Chacko. This project marks Ajith’s 63rd film as a lead actor and is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 10.
