Nani reveals the decision to create a ‘Hit-verse’ wasn’t part of the original plan. He further lauds Rajkummar Rao’s act in Hit.
Hit: The Third Case is set to premiere on May 1.
Following his successful role as a presenter in Hit: The First Case and Hit: The Second Case, ‘Natural Star’ Nani has stepped into the spotlight as an actor in Hit: The Third Case. This latest installment aims to be more ambitious and intense than its predecessors, featuring Nani as a formidable police officer. Notably, this is the first time the Hit franchise will be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, marking its appeal to a broader audience. Hindi viewers are already familiar with the franchise, as Rajkummar Rao starred in the Hindi version of Hit: The First Case that was released in 2020. Nani shared his thoughts on the Hindi remake in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha.
Nani expressed his admiration for Rajkummar Rao, stating, “I haven’t seen the Hindi version of Hit yet. It was produced by Dil Raju garu, who acquired the rights from me. Rajkummar is an exceptional talent, and having seen many of his performances, I was certain they would deliver a superior product. Although I haven’t watched it myself, I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews, especially regarding his portrayal after its OTT release.”
Interestingly, Nani is now considering a potential collaboration that could see Rajkummar join the original Hit universe crafted by Shailesh Kolanu. When asked about the likelihood of a crossover featuring characters Vikram Jaisingh and Arjun Sarkar, Nani mentioned, “I hope we can eventually incorporate Rajkummar into the Hit universe. There should definitely be a crossover. We’re looking into expanding the Hit franchise to include stories set in Karnataka. The potential within this universe is vast. We’re akin to a franchise like KFC,” he added with a laugh. “We can set stories in any state!”
Discussing the evolution of the franchise, Nani revealed that the idea of developing a ‘Hit-verse’ had not been part of their original vision. “Initially, we intended to simply make a sequel focused on the same case from the first film. However, upon hearing the script for Hit: The Second Case, we realized it was entirely standalone. This sparked the idea for a Hit-verse, allowing each installment to explore different cases with police officers from various states,” he explained.
Nani highlighted, “The second film took place in Andhra Pradesh, while the third is set in Telangana. Future projects will explore narratives based in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Maharashtra. It’s an exhilarating concept! That’s when we made the decision to cast a different actor for the second film, which proved successful. With Hit: The Third Case, we’re experimenting beyond our initial concept. We filmed in picturesque locations including Kashmir, Jaipur, and Arunachal Pradesh, which is helping us build a unique framework for this expanding universe.”
