Following the monumental success of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, anticipation for its sequel has surged among fans. Although the release of Animal Park is still on the horizon, an AI-generated poster for Animal 2 has made its way onto social media, amplifying excitement.
The poster features an intense depiction of Ranbir Kapoor in a meat shop, wielding a knife while maintaining a direct gaze at the viewer. His outfit—a white vest marked with bloodstains—adds to the gripping atmosphere, complemented by visible tattoos on his arms. The tagline reads, “Animal Park: Hunt or Be Hunted,” capturing the film’s thrilling essence.
Animal premiered in theaters in December 2023, featuring a storyline centered around a tumultuous father-son relationship. Ranbir portrays Vijay, an anti-hero driven to extreme measures to gain his father’s approval, including committing acts of violence. Anil Kapoor plays the emotionally distant father, creating a dynamic fraught with tension.
Although Animal emerged as a box office success, grossing over Rs 900 crores, it faced criticism for its portrayal of toxic themes and misogyny.
In December 2024, during the Red Sea Film Festival, Ranbir provided insights about Animal Park in an interview with Deadline. He indicated that the team is actively engaged in scriptwriting and is looking to commence filming in 2027.
“We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” he explained, further noting that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga plans to develop the narrative over three films. “The second part is called Animal Park. We have been sharing ideas from the first film itself to chart the course for the sequel. It is very exciting because now I get to portray two distinct characters—the antagonist and the protagonist. I am thrilled to be part of this incredibly original project with an outstanding director.”
