Ranvir Shorey Discusses Career Struggles and Future Aspirations

Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey, recognized for his impactful roles over a career that spans more than thirty years, has recently shared insights about the challenges he faces in securing acting opportunities. Despite his rich portfolio and multiple accolades, Shorey has candidly acknowledged that finding consistent work has grown increasingly difficult, a sentiment he expressed during his recent participation in the reality show Bigg Boss.

In a discussion with interviewer Siddharth Kannan, Shorey elaborated on his struggles with job hunting, highlighting the challenge posed by his current lack of a management team to assist him. He conveyed his discomfort with the need to repeatedly seek acting roles, often feeling that even when he takes the initiative to ask, the opportunities that arise do not align with his aspirations.

Demonstrating a resilient spirit, Shorey conveyed his readiness to adapt should acting offers dwindle completely. His passion for the film industry and music remains strong, and he expressed his willingness to engage in any role within these creative fields, even if that meant taking on manual labor or starting afresh as a production assistant on set.

“Even if I express that I’m not getting acting offers, it’s not out of despair. I can take up any job… I’m open to anything. With my experience, I know I can sustain myself one way or another. I even consider working as a spot boy if necessary, and I would not view that negatively,” he remarked.

Reflecting on a moment in the Bigg Boss house when a younger contestant, Shivani Kumari, inquired about his profession, Shorey expressed understanding towards the younger generation’s unfamiliarity with his career. “I can’t fault them for not knowing who I am; they are young. I recognize that my appeal is more niche, and I don’t anticipate broad recognition,” he noted.

Shorey also touched upon the intricacies of industry relationships, hinting that his commitment to receiving timely remuneration might have contributed to him being overlooked for roles. He acknowledged that this principle could sometimes be interpreted as a negative attitude, although he remains unsure if that perception is accurate. Throughout these challenges, Shorey exhibits a significant level of self-awareness regarding his limitations in networking and self-promotion.

Famed for his performances in notable films such as Bheja Fry, Khosla Ka Ghosla, and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, along with his involvement in major films like Ek Tha Tiger and Singh is Kinng, Ranvir Shorey continues to be a respected and recognized figure in the film industry.
