Ranvir Shorey Opens Up About Career Challenges During Bigg Boss OTT 3
Ranvir Shorey’s participation in the third season of Bigg Boss OTT came as an unexpected twist for fans. The actor candidly revealed that he joined the reality series amid a challenging phase in his career, marked by a scarcity of offers and a few completed projects that remained unreleased. This period of stagnation prompted him to embrace the opportunity the show presented.
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Shorey reflected on how his early successes in commercial cinema, including films like Singh Is Kinng, shaped his expectations. He recounted a memorable interaction with the renowned filmmaker David Dhawan, who had praised his talent. “David Dhawan called me and said, ‘Tu bahot achcha actor hai, beta. Tu kya kaam karta hai, Ranvir!’” Shorey reminisced, indicating the high hopes he had at that time.
Following this endorsement from Dhawan, Shorey agreed to star in the film Do Knot Disturb, a project featuring the iconic actor Govinda. However, the experience proved to be humorously ironic as he spent a significant portion of the film as a character who was essentially a dead body. Shorey shared, “I’ll never forget that! After that, his words ‘tu bahot achcha actor hai’ kept ringing in my ears!”
When it came to addressing his career lull on Bigg Boss OTT 3, Shorey expressed no regrets. “I’ve experienced the highs and lows in my career,” he shared. “Discussing my lack of work isn’t something I shy away from. The freedom to choose projects is a privilege, but being without offers can be a challenging reality. This is something I’ve faced multiple times, and I believe it’s essential to speak openly about it. It is an inherent aspect of being an actor.”
Shorey went on to challenge the notion that all accomplished actors lead a luxurious life, stating, “The idea that ‘good actors are rich’ is a misconception. Financial stability is crucial. There are two types of actors: those who have financial safety nets provided by their families and those of us who rely solely on acting to make ends meet. For those of us without a fallback plan, the lack of work poses a significant problem.”
