Si Woo Kim Takes Lead at RBC Heritage
In an impressive display of skill, South Korea’s Si Woo Kim posted a five-under par 66, catapulting him to the lead after the third round of the RBC Heritage. He enters the final day at Harbour Town Golf Links with a total score of 15-under 198, setting him one stroke ahead of American competitors Justin Thomas and Andrew Novak, who are tied at 14-under.
Thomas, who began the day with a two-shot lead after an exceptional opening round of 61, could only manage a two-under 69, combining four birdies with two bogeys. Novak also performed admirably, matching Kim’s score of 66 to keep the pressure on as the tournament heads into its concluding round.
At just 29 years old, Kim is on the hunt for his fifth PGA Tour title, which would mark his first victory in over two years. Despite his strong performance, Kim’s round was marred by a solitary bogey on the 18th hole, especially poignant as Thomas, who was paired with him, secured a birdie at the same hole.
In an interesting turn of events, Thomas received a one-stroke penalty on the par-five second hole after causing his ball to move in a waste bunker. Nevertheless, he recovered to par the hole, demonstrating resilience under pressure.
Maverick McNealy is positioned fourth with a total score of 13-under after shooting a round of 65. Tied for fifth at 12-under are Brian Harman, who also scored 66, and England’s Tommy Fleetwood, who recorded a round of 68. Fleetwood was initially in contention, being just one stroke off the lead after making a birdie on the fifth hole. However, consecutive bogeys on the seventh and tenth holes set him back. He rebounded well, finishing the last eight holes at two under thanks to birdies on the 11th and 16th holes.
The defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, shot a 68, which brought him to a total of 11-under, placing him in a tie for seventh with Russell Henley, who recorded a 70.
