Recap: ‘The Voice’ Season 26 Episode 16 – Playoffs Part 2
The latest episode of “The Voice” progressed through the Playoffs, featuring performances from Team Reba McEntire and Team Snoop Dogg. In this critical stage, each coach faces the challenge of selecting only two artists from their quintet, with assistance from special guest advisors. This episode saw Olympian Simone Biles guiding Snoop’s artists and country singer Lainey Wilson mentoring Reba’s team. Earlier, for the Playoffs Premiere, rapper MGK had supported Gwen Stefani. Upcoming performances from Team Michael Bublé are scheduled for the episode on November 26.
During rehearsals with Team Reba, Lainey expressed her pride in helping to nurture the talents of her fellow contestants, reminiscent of how her own mentors, including Reba, crafted her skills. She recognized artist Adam Bohanan for his soulful delivery and encouraged him to bring more intensity to early parts of his performance. Edward Preble‘s genuine personality resonated with Lainey, who highlighted his charismatic stage presence. Meanwhile, she praised Katie O for passionately incorporating her own style into her performance, believing this showcased her true love for country music.
After an impressive rehearsal from Lauren-Michael Sellers, Lainey offered a heartfelt hug and advised her to incorporate smiles at key lyrical moments to enhance the storytelling aspect. Lainey and Reba concurred on giving more depth to Danny Joseph‘s performance by reserving some impactful moments until later in the song. Lainey also foresees great potential in him to reach the finale.
In light of their performances—Adam singing “Think I’m in Love with You” by Chris Stapleton, Edward covering “All of Me” by Frank Sinatra, Katie performing “Hang Tight Honey” by Lainey, Lauren-Michael with “I Am Not Okay” by Jelly Roll, and Danny belting out “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye—Reba commended her team for their upward trajectory and shared her unwavering pride in them. Ultimately, she chose Adam and Danny to proceed to the live shows, lauding Adam’s versatile vocal range and deeming Danny a unique talent destined to resonate with audiences.

For Team Snoop, the focus was on the value of bringing in an unexpected element, with Simone’s insights on preparation and managing pressure offering significant advantages to the contestants. During rehearsal, Christina Eagle appreciated the chance to confide in Simone about their mutual upbringing by grandparents, taking the advice provided to conquer personal fears. Simone also encouraged Aliyah Khaylyn to embrace her energy while performing, reinforcing the importance of confidence as a powerful Black woman.
Austyns Stancil expressed enthusiasm about working with Simone, wanting to showcase to his daughters the vast potential of hard work. Simone recognized Austyns’ commitment to authenticity and encouraged him to maintain his falsetto throughout. During Mikaela Ayira’s rehearsal, Simone urged her to unleash her full potential, sharing visualization techniques to alleviate her nerves. She also advised Jeremy Beloate on the necessity of making a stronger first impression in his performance.
Reflecting on their performances—Christina singing “Fancy” by Reba, Aliyah with “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston, Austyns covering “Adore” by Prince, Mikaela performing “Love” by Keyshia Cole, and Jeremy with “The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” by Josh Groban—Snoop expressed pride, excitedly anticipating their future recordings. He selected Jeremy and Christina to advance to the live shows, citing Jeremy’s innate stage presence and Christina’s potential for growth in traditional country music.
