Introducing the Redmi K80 Pro: A Powerhouse Smartphone
The Redmi K80 Pro has officially launched, featuring the robust Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, accompanied by multiple Qualcomm chips. The starting price is set at CNY 3,700 (approximately $510/€485/₹43,200), making it an attractive option for those seeking high specifications at a competitive cost.
Variants and Special Edition
The base model for the Redmi K80 Pro includes 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Further options expand to 12GB/512GB, and 16GB/512GB configurations, culminating in a high-end model with an impressive 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. A Lamborghini-inspired special edition will also be available, and details will follow shortly.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip provides significant power but can generate heat. To combat this, Xiaomi implemented an innovative 3D dual-loop vapor chamber, designed to lower temperatures by as much as 3°C. Additionally, Xiaomi’s D1 chip enhances gameplay by managing super-resolution, frame generation, and super HDR, effectively reducing the processing load on the Snapdragon chip and conserving battery life during intense gaming sessions.
Enhanced Battery Life and Charging
For longer usage, Xiaomi has increased the battery capacity to 6,000mAh, up from 5,000mAh in the K70 Pro, representing a 20% enhancement. The battery is rated for 1,600 charge cycles, with management handled by the Surge P3 charging chip and the G1 battery management chip. Users will benefit from wired charging capabilities of up to 120W, which can fully recharge the device in just 28 minutes. Additionally, fast wireless charging is available at 50W.
Design and Durability
Despite these enhancements, the Redmi K80 Pro maintains similar dimensions and weight to its predecessor, the K70 Pro, measuring 8.4mm in thickness and weighing 212g—only slightly thicker and heavier. An upgrade includes an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, a feature absent in the K70 Pro.
Display and Camera Capabilities
The device boasts a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, constructed from innovative materials that increase efficiency by 8%. The QHD+ resolution supports 12-bit colors along with HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid capabilities, reaching peak brightness levels of 3,200 nits thanks to DC dimming technology. Additional features include a 20MP selfie camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader integrated beneath the display.
On the rear, the Redmi K80 Pro features a sophisticated triple camera setup. The primary camera is equipped with a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 sensor, paired with a fast f/1.6 lens that includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This setup can capture 8K video at 24fps or 4K and 1080p footage at up to 60fps. Accompanying this is a 32MP ultra-wide camera equipped with a 15mm/120° lens.
The third camera module offers a 60mm telephoto lens capable of 2.5x optical zoom with a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor, featuring an option for 5x in-sensor zoom and featuring an f/2.0 lens with OIS.
Advanced Connectivity Features
The Redmi K80 Pro delivers advanced connectivity options, supporting 5G as well as Wi-Fi 7 across both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, alongside Bluetooth 6.0, which was finalized in August 2023. Xiaomi integrates a custom T1S chip to enhance 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth signals.
Special Edition: Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse
The special edition of the Redmi K80 Pro, named Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse, offers two unique color options and comes with a Lamborghini-branded case. Notably, the 120W charger features a striking Lamborghini logo, distinguishing it from the standard model’s generic charger. This exclusive version is based on the 16GB/1TB configuration and is priced at CNY 5,000 (approximately $690/€655/₹58,500).
Pricing Across Variants
The pricing for the Redmi K80 Pro is as follows: CNY 3,700 for 12GB/256GB, CNY 4,000 for 12GB/512GB, CNY 4,300 for 16GB/512GB, and CNY 4,800 for the 16GB/1TB configuration. The Redmi K80 Pro is currently available in China through Xiaomi’s official online store.
