Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor’s horror-comedy Kapkapiii set for May 2025 release
The anticipated release date for Kapkapiii, featuring actors Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor, has been officially announced. This horror-comedy film, which is said to be a remake of the 2023 Malayalam film Romancham, will now premiere on May 23, 2025, after experiencing a notable delay.
The film’s production team unveiled a new promotional poster that has garnered mixed responses from audiences. The poster showcases a group of individuals cleverly hidden behind a carrom board, which doubles as a ouija board. While many fans positively received the poster, others voiced their frustrations regarding yet another adaptation of a South Indian film.
In response to the revelation that Kapkapiii is based on Romancham, social media users expressed their opinions. One fan remarked, “Romancham remake I think,” while another criticized the trend of remakes by stating, “Another south Remake.” A third user quipped, “Remakewood is back,” highlighting the ongoing conversation around film adaptations.
For those unfamiliar, Kapkapiii holds significance as it is the final project directed by Sangeeth Sivan, who sadly passed away shortly after completing the film. Producer Jayesh Patel has emphasized his profound connection with Sivan, affirming that the late director’s influence is crucial to the film’s integrity. Following Sivan’s death, Patel took personal responsibility for overseeing all creative decisions to ensure the film aligned with Sivan’s original vision.
Upon the film’s announcement last year, Shreyas Talpade shared insights about what audiences can anticipate from Kapkapiii. He stated, “Today, when most of the films around us are thrillers, dark, or patriotic, audiences can expect a genuine horror comedy. While there’s always a chuckle, there are sequences where you will fall off your chair laughing, along with moments that will give you genuine goosebumps.”
Tusshar Kapoor also expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting, “I really enjoyed the script. Of course, the team had a very good vibe, especially Sangeeth sir, with whom I’ve worked before in Kya Kool Hai Hum. My character is within the realm of comedy and horror but very different from what has been portrayed by me in my earlier films.”
Kapkapiii features an impressive ensemble cast, including Sonia Rathee, Siddhi Idnani, Jay Thakkar, Varun Pandey, Dherendra Tiwari, Dinkar Sharma, and Abhishek Kumar, promising a diverse mix of performances within this unique genre.
