The new track is set to premiere just ahead of his debut performance at Coachella this Sunday.

Rema recently shared with Rolling Stone that his previous single, “Baby (Is It a Crime),” achieved his highest streaming day to date. Now, he returns with a vibrant new song titled “Bout U.” This catchy track features a prominent electric guitar riff that pays homage to legendary guitarist Prince, creating a fresh yet nostalgic sound. In the lyrics, Rema expresses his infatuation with a captivating woman, singing, “Hold my hand girl/Time is running out.” He continues, “Girl let’s make it count/This love affair got me living in the clouds/Please don’t let me down.” The song is a collaborative effort with his regular producer, London.

Recognized last month as one of Rolling Stone’s Future of Music cover stars, Rema elaborated on his ideal relationship, describing a partner who embodies peace, loyalty, and transparency. Although he currently isn’t in a relationship, he expressed his aspirations for marriage, highlighting the importance of time in his life journey. “The timeline matters, but I don’t specifically have a time,” he noted, reflecting on his experiences of losing his father at a young age and the challenges faced by his family thereafter.

Rema captivated audiences at the Moody Theatre during the fourth night of Rolling Stone’s Future of Music showcase at SXSW in Austin. In a powerful moment before his performance, Rema stated, “Africa is the future of music because it’s unique and it knows no boundary,” emphasizing the rich potential of African music on the global stage. His recent feature in the magazine marks a significant milestone, as he becomes the first Black African solo artist and the first Afrobeats musician to grace the cover.

This Sunday, April 13, Rema will take the stage at Coachella for the first time, performing on the Mojave Stage at 6:40 p.m. PT. Following this landmark performance, he is set to continue his world tour, with a special debut at Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 3.
