Reports indicate that a funeral for Liam Payne is anticipated to take place next week. The former One Direction member tragically lost his life on October 16 after an unfortunate fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina. Sources suggest that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
According to Sun UK, arrangements are being made for the return of the late singer’s body to the UK in the coming days, with the funeral scheduled for next week. “At the latest, the 31-year-old could be back in the UK by Wednesday – with his funeral to be held in St Paul’s Cathedral in Wolverhampton,” the report stated.
Payne’s death came as a great shock to his fans, and revelations regarding the substances found in his system have further compounded the grief felt by the public. Toxicology reports indicated the presence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, and benzodiazepines, which are typically prescribed for their sedative properties.
Additionally, a toxicology test showed that he had ingested “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug known as Tusi, which is comprised of methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA. The US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) recently issued warnings about the increasing prevalence of Tusi in various regions, including Manhattan, New York.
Prior to the incident, hotel staff in Buenos Aires expressed concern over Payne’s erratic behavior, prompting them to alert local authorities. Employees feared for his safety, indicating that he might be in a precarious situation given his location in a third-story room with a balcony.
In response to the tragic news, fans organized spontaneous vigils in cities worldwide, including New York, London, and Paris. Meanwhile, Payne’s former bandmates from One Direction—Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan—shared a heartfelt statement on the band’s official Instagram account.
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly,” they expressed. They continued, “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”
