Samsung is anticipated to reveal its Galaxy Z Flip 7 at an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event later this year. While the specifics of the clamshell foldable device remain unconfirmed, fresh rumors regarding its specifications have emerged online. Notably, there are indications that Samsung plans to equip the new foldable phone with its own Exynos 2500 chipset, marking a significant shift from its recent trend of utilizing Qualcomm chipsets for its foldables.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 May Feature Exynos 2500 Chipset
According to a report from the Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) Division is set to commence mass production of the new foldable devices in May at facilities located in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea, and Vietnam. The company is reportedly targeting the production of approximately 240,000 units of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and around 170,000 units of the anticipated Galaxy Z Flip FE. Additionally, about 160,000 units of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be manufactured, featuring several color options, including a new Coral Red that aligns with the Galaxy S25 series.
The report highlights that Samsung’s MX division is in the final stages of testing the integration of the Exynos 2500 chip into the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This move signifies the company’s goal to utilize its proprietary chipset in the next generation of flip-style foldables across all regions.
The Exynos 2500 chipset was initially intended for the Galaxy S25 series but was reportedly set aside due to concerns about performance and unspecified issues, according to the same report.
Historically, Samsung has relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors since the launch of its foldable phones. If these latest details are accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will break new ground as the first model to feature Samsung’s in-house Exynos System on Chip (SoC).
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July. Rumors suggest it will include a 3.6-inch cover display and a 6.8-inch internal display. Specifications may include 12GB of RAM, with storage configurations of 256GB or 512GB. Camera capabilities are anticipated to feature a dual rear setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Battery performance is likely to include a 4,300mAh capacity, supporting 25W wired charging.
