Retroid Pocket Mini Offers Limited Return Window Amid Shader Issues

Following ongoing reports from Retroid Pocket Mini users about problems related to game visuals, particularly when applying shaders, the company has announced a limited return period for customers wishing to obtain refunds. This decision comes amidst rising concerns over the device’s graphical performance.

According to an announcement shared by Retro Game Corps via Discord, the return window is set between March 8 and March 14, with a cap of 200 returns for international customers. Additionally, those wanting to return their devices will be responsible for their own shipping costs. In an attempt to placate disappointed customers, Retroid is also providing a $10 coupon for future purchases, applicable to the upcoming Retroid Flip2 and Retroid Classic models.

Retroid’s official statement regarding the RP Mini’s screen problem outlined key details:

  • Return window from March 8 to March 14.

Since the device’s launch last fall, Retroid Pocket Mini owners have been trying to understand the root causes of the ongoing issues. The shader-related challenges are particularly visible when users apply certain CRT shaders to classic games, leading to artifacts like misplaced scanlines, inconsistent pixels, and overall image distortion, according to insights from RetroHandhelds.

In light of these revelations, some users previously reported challenges when attempting to return their devices. Addressing these concerns, Retroid acknowledged the complexity and potential cost implications of processing returns, highlighting the necessity for clear criteria in managing these requests. The company further encouraged that the return opportunity be reserved for those most affected by the shader issues, particularly individuals who rely heavily on CRT shaders or pixel enhancements.
