Coffee Enthusiasts Rejoice: The Ratio Six Coffee Maker
A morning ritual that many cherish begins with a steaming cup of coffee. For those who prioritize quality brews, finding the right coffee maker is paramount. After undergoing food allergy testing five years ago that required eliminating dairy, I transitioned to drinking my coffee black. This change heightened my expectations regarding coffee quality and launched me on an exploration of various brews. Now, after testing numerous machines, I can confidently say that the Ratio Six stands out as the best drip coffee maker I have ever encountered.
The Ratio Six boasts several features that contribute to its remarkable performance. The combination of a flat-bottomed basket and a wide showerhead ensures that coffee grounds are evenly saturated, resulting in an exceptionally flavorful beverage. It can brew a full pot in approximately five minutes, aligning with the Speciality Coffee Association’s certification standards. Additionally, it works at consistently high temperatures, ensuring optimal extraction from the coffee grounds.
Working remotely, my partner and I appreciate the ability to refill our cups throughout the morning. The Ratio Six features an insulated carafe that maintains coffee warmth remarkably well—insulating heat to a notable 168°F even after an hour. Its user-friendly operation, handled with a singular control button, adds to its appeal.
While the Ratio Six is impressive, it is not without its drawbacks. The design of the water reservoir can be a point of contention; its smaller opening can lead to spills during filling. Additionally, the machine comprises multiple parts including the carafe, lid, brew basket, and the component responsible for sealing over the showerhead, which can complicate cleaning and usage. After brewing, it requires several steps to properly clean up, which can feel laborious. Nevertheless, the exceptional quality of the coffee it brews outweighs these inconveniences. For those passionate about coffee, investing in the Ratio Six is likely to prove rewarding.
