Legal Action Against Rick Ross Over Accessibility Issues at Car Show
Rick Ross is currently confronting a legal dispute, as a man has filed a lawsuit alleging that Ross failed to ensure his car show was accessible to individuals with disabilities.
The plaintiff, Darris Straughter, claims that he was lured to the event by Ross’s marketing, which presented it as a unique opportunity to visit the rapper’s property. However, Straughter asserts that he was ultimately unable to attend the car show due to the absence of a promised wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus. This shuttle was reportedly guaranteed to him, but it never arrived.
In preparation for the event, Darris stated that he incurred various expenses, including travel, lodging, and purchasing a ticket—some of which required selling his car. He proactively notified the event organizers two weeks prior to the show, informing them of his need for reasonable accommodations.
According to Straughter, the car show staff assured him that a shuttle would be available to transport him from the parking area to the venue. After waiting for several hours without the shuttle’s arrival, he grew frustrated, ultimately deciding to give away his ticket and return to his hotel.
Straughter, alongside his attorney, John Hoover Esq., contends that the organizers had promised refunds to attendees who could not gain access to the event. However, he asserts that he never received any follow-up regarding this offer.
In his lawsuit, Straughter accuses Ross of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act. He is seeking monetary damages as well as a mandate for the event to ensure disabled access in the future.
As of now, there has been no response from Rick Ross regarding the allegations made against him.
