The surviving members of the iconic English blues-rock band Faces are in the midst of crafting a new album, marking the first new release in over 52 years.
The news emerged from an interview with Faces drummer Kenney Jones, published in The Telegraph. Interestingly, the band has been hinting at an album for several years, with frontman Rod Stewart confirming in 2021 that the project was indeed underway. Recently, in 2024, he reiterated, “We haven’t finished it yet, but we’ll finish it this year, I promise.”

Jones revealed that the band has completed approximately “11 tracks” at RAK Studios in London. Notably, musician and television host Jools Holland has contributed to one of these tracks. “Not all of them will make it onto the album,” Jones remarked. “However, the majority are quite promising.”
He expressed some uncertainty about the album’s release timeline, suggesting it might not be ready this year. “I can’t see it coming out this year,” he stated. “However, I believe it will be out next year. Everyone has various commitments. We record bits and pieces when we can. And all of a sudden, The Stones are off touring again, and Rod is busy…”
Faces originated in 1969 from a collaboration between former members of Small Faces and the Jeff Beck Group. The band had a brief but impactful run, only lasting six years before guitarist Ronnie Wood departed to join the Rolling Stones, while Stewart pursued his solo career.
Throughout their career, Faces released four studio albums, with A Nod Is As Good As a Wink… to a Blind Horse, released in 1971, attaining significant success, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200. This album featured the hit single “Stay with Me,” which peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100, and was succeeded by their final studio album, Ooh La La, in 1973.
Despite the passing of founding bassist Ronnie Lane in 1997 and keyboardist Ian McLagan in 2014, the band’s legacy has endured. Faces have maintained a presence in the music scene, especially after their performance of “Stay With Me” at the 2020 Brit Awards sparked renewed interest.
Currently, Stewart is set to take the stage in the Sunday evening Legends Slot at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival, along with a series of Las Vegas residency dates extending into October.
