Rohit Shetty Addresses Speculations of Rift with Shah Rukh Khan Following Dilwale
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has recently addressed ongoing speculation regarding a possible rift with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, stemming from their film Dilwale, which, unlike their prior hit Chennai Express, did not perform as expected at the box office. This underperformance has led to various rumors about tensions between the two.
In a discussion on the Game Changers podcast with Komal Nahta, Shetty firmly dismissed any claims of a fallout, stating, “Nahi aisa kuch nahi,” emphasizing the absence of any animosity between him and Khan.
Shetty went on to explain the nature of their relationship, highlighting the mutual respect that exists between them. Following the release of Dilwale, both he and Khan chose to focus on their own production ventures. “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi,” he remarked, indicating that they decided to produce their own projects, accepting the risk of any financial losses that might arise.
Despite the domestic box office result, Rohit acknowledged that Dilwale had a significant impact internationally, pointing out its success in overseas markets. He noted that the film was produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.
Additionally, Rohit shared insights into his collaborative relationships within the film industry. He described his strong friendship with Ajay Devgn, viewing him as an older brother, and noted his close ties with contemporary actors such as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Reflecting on Deepika’s dedication, he shared a personal anecdote about her commitment during the filming of Singham Again when she was four months pregnant, adding, “Relations like these are rarely made.”
Looking ahead, Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in the upcoming film King, where he will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will also feature Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in prominent roles.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is immersed in the development of Singham Again, the next chapter in his popular cop universe, which includes a notable cast.
