Ryan Eggold Joins the Cast of Law & Order for Upcoming Season
Ryan Eggold is set to make a return to NBC, this time joining the cast of the long-running series Law & Order. Known for his role in New Amsterdam, Eggold’s addition to the show comes as it gears up for another season that promises exciting storylines and character crossovers.
Mariska Hargitay will reprise her iconic role as Captain Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU in the second episode of this new season. According to showrunner Rick Eid, the episode will center around a controversial app that creates a simulated “perfect boyfriend.” This leads to tensions and conflict, as many individuals hold disdain for the app’s creator. “The episode delves into the implications of AI and virtual relationships, raising the question of whether artificial intelligence can truly replace genuine human connections. It promises to be an emotional and impactful narrative,” Eid explains.
The plot thickens as the murder of the app’s creator is linked to a complex and relevant issue, prompting Captain Benson’s involvement. “Benson will interact significantly with our main characters, navigating her established relationship with the suspect. This will elevate the intensity of the investigation,” Eid notes, emphasizing the narrative’s exploration of personal and procedural drama.
In a subsequent episode titled “Big Brother,” Eggold will portray Matt, the brother of Detective Vincent Riley, played by Reid Scott. During a pivotal murder investigation, Matt’s knowledge of the case proves critical. However, retrieving information from him poses its challenges, as he navigates a complicated existence straddling lawful and unlawful worlds. “The episode sheds light on the intricacies of Riley and Matt’s relationship, with both brothers having taken vastly different paths in life. Despite their bond, Riley finds himself entangled in a web of familial duties and moral dilemmas,” Eid elaborates.
“This narrative will deeply explore the dynamics between the two brothers amidst the murder investigation and trial,” he adds, implying that audiences can expect a nuanced portrayal of family loyalty and ethical complications.
