Ryan Reynolds Joins Hugh Jackman for Special Concert Event
Last night, Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance during Hugh Jackman’s inaugural concert at Radio City Music Hall, serving as host for a mid-show audience Q&A session. The lively exchange provided a lighthearted atmosphere, allowing fans to engage with both stars. A video of Reynolds’ appearance is available for viewing online.
In a humorous moment, Reynolds quipped, “I was told that this was going to be a comedy version of Les Mis as a one-man show. We all said we thought it was a terrible idea, but he carried on,” as he made his way to the stage.
Throughout the Q&A, Reynolds entertained the audience with jokes while also sharing personal anecdotes about his early collaboration with Jackman on the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He recalled his youthful naivety during that time: “I was young still, I was impressionable. I didn’t know what was going to happen,” he stated. “But what I saw was probably the best thing that anyone could possibly experience if you’re young and working your way up in the industry. I saw this gentleman here walk around that set, and just like here, he knew every single person’s name—even if he was making them up half the time. He showed a kind of courtesy and gentleness and curiosity and he put value into every single crew member that we were working with.”
Jackman’s concert series, titled New York With Love, runs until October 4. This marks his return to live performances after five years, during which he will showcase songs from his most recognizable roles, including selections from The Boy From Oz and other notable performances from his career.
This year has proven especially fruitful for Jackman, as his film Deadpool & Wolverine has achieved remarkable box-office success, approaching $1.3 billion in global earnings. Additionally, Jackman received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables.
His portrayal in Les Misérables not only secured him an Oscar nomination but also won him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Comedy/Musical. Jackman received further accolades, including Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award nominations for both Best Ensemble and Best Male Actor in a Leading Role, alongside a BAFTA nomination. His performance as P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman earned him a GRAMMY Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media, contributing to the soundtrack’s record-breaking sales and multi-platinum status across various global markets.
On Broadway, Jackman’s recent role in The Music Man adds to his extensive theatre credentials. His previous Broadway performances include The River, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway, A Steady Rain, and The Boy From Oz. Furthermore, he made his mark in the West End with a production of Oklahoma! in 1998 and took the stage Off-Broadway in Carousel in 2002.
