Salman Khan cites Dharmendra as a major influence in his career
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has openly expressed his deep admiration for Dharmendra, a legendary figure in Indian cinema. Their close relationship extends beyond just friendship, as Salman has played a supportive role in the careers of Dharmendra’s sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol.
In a recent discussion, Salman highlighted how Dharmendra serves as a guiding force in his life. He remarked, “He is one of the most amazing men that we have in the industry. In fact, throughout my career, after my father, I have looked up to Dharmendra. I follow him more closely than his own sons do.” This statement underscores the respect Salman holds for the veteran actor and showcases the bond they share.
When questioned about which classic Dharmendra films he might want to remake, Salman expressed enthusiasm for several titles. He listed a few favorites: “I would love to remake some of his iconic films, including ‘Chacha Bhatija,’ ‘Seeta Aur Geeta,’ and of course, ‘Sholay.’ His film ‘Ram Balram’ and many others have had a significant impact on my cinematic journey.” This acknowledgment reflects Salman’s appreciation for Dharmendra’s work and legacy.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is currently starring in the film ‘Sikandar’ alongside actress Rashmika Mandanna. The film has received positive reviews, with News18 Showsha awarding it 3.5 stars. The review highlighted that ‘Sikandar’ heavily draws on Salman’s mass appeal, featuring thrilling action sequences that cater to his fanbase. It stated, “With multiple whistle-blowing scenes, audiences can’t help but get swept away in the excitement surrounding Bollywood’s ‘Bhai.’ His swagger and action style are front and center, ensuring that every frame is designed with fans in mind.”
However, the review also pointed out some shortcomings in the film, noting that scenes depicting Salman’s character’s emotional struggles following his wife’s death felt disconnected. Critics indicated that while the film is action-packed, it perhaps falters in delivering the emotional depth that many viewers seek. This balance between action and emotional engagement remains a crucial aspect for the film’s reception.
