In 2023, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starred in Shaakuntalam and Kushi, followed by Citadel: Honey Bunny in 2024, a Prime Video web series.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is taking a moment to reflect on her 15-year career in the film industry, which began with her debut in Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010. In a recent interview, she candidly discussed her journey, including how early in her career, her self-esteem was heavily influenced by the commercial success of her films, leading to anxiety surrounding their box office performances.

The actress expressed that she has since found a healthier outlook on her career. “It was stressful because I tied my self-worth to the success of each film. And success was never in my control. Every Friday became a source of anxiety because my confidence depended on box office numbers. It was a recipe for disaster. Now, I have a clearer perspective and am much kinder to myself,” she explained.

Samantha also reflected on her earlier performances, admitting that she feels discomfort when revisiting some of her past work, particularly those glamorous roles. “The performances that make me cringe are the ones where I was struggling to fit in. Initially, most of the glamorous roles weren’t really me. I was trying to fit in, trying to be like my fantastic peers. I tried to look like them, act like them, dance like them. When I watch those performances now, I find them absolutely ridiculous,” she stated.

Despite her critical view of those past performances, it is important to note that Samantha established herself as one of the leading actresses in Telugu cinema soon after her debut. She starred in numerous acclaimed films, including Brindavanam, Dookudu, Attarintiki Daredi, and S/O Satyamurthy, solidifying her status during that time.

In 2023, she featured in Shaakuntalam and Kushi, and continued her momentum in 2024 with Citadel: Honey Bunny, a web series available on Prime Video. Moreover, she is currently involved in another web series, Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, directed by Raj & DK, alongside producing a film titled Maa Inti Bangaram.

Samantha’s evolution as an artist has led her to embrace a variety of roles, moving away from past choices that she now finds less authentic.
