Samay Raina Navigates Legal Issues Following Controversial Remarks on India’s Got Latent.
Stand-up comedian Samay Raina is currently facing multiple legal challenges, forcing him to reschedule his much-anticipated India tour. In a recent update shared on his Instagram stories, Raina informed his fans that all tickets for his upcoming shows, which had sold out quickly, will be refunded shortly.
“Hello guys, I am rescheduling my India tour. You all will get the refunds shortly. See you soon,” he posted, accompanied by a red heart and folded hands emoji.
This development comes amid legal scrutiny related to comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia, commonly known as BeerBiceps, during an episode of the show India’s Got Latent. His remarks, which included asking a contestant an inappropriate question and making a suggestive proposal for Rs 2 crore, have sparked considerable outrage. Particularly controversial was his question regarding whether a contestant would prefer to witness their parents engage in sexual activity every day for life or participate in an act to end it.
In the wake of this incident, a police complaint was filed against Allahbadia, Raina, and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. The FIR alleges that they promoted obscene and sexually explicit content on the show, citing various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Raina has faced additional FIRs and has been summoned three times by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to answer for these accusations.
In response to the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology through a video statement, while Raina took down all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel. He expressed his distress over the situation, stating, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
