Later this year, Samsung is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, it’s not the only sleek device making waves in the tech world; the company claims the Samsung Galaxy M56 is the slimmest phone in its category for 2025.

The Galaxy M56 boasts a remarkable slim design

At just 7.2mm thick and weighing 180g, the M56 is 30% thinner than its predecessor. For context, the Galaxy A56 measures 7.4mm in thickness and weighs 198g, while the M55 comes in at 7.8mm thick and also weighs 180g. Notably, all three models share a robust 5,000mAh battery and feature a 6.7-inch display.

The Galaxy M56 features an impressive 6.74-inch Super AMOLED+ display, which is 33% brighter and has 36% slimmer bezels compared to the M55’s screen. The 1080p+ resolution coupled with a 120Hz refresh rate promises an engaging visual experience.

Advanced display technology on the Galaxy M56

Under the hood, the Galaxy M56 is equipped with last year’s Exynos 1480 processor. Although it doesn’t match the speed of the newer Exynos 1580 found in the A56, the Exynos 1480 remains a competent 4nm chip, featuring AMD RDNA 2 graphics along with Cortex-A78/A55 CPU cores. Additionally, it incorporates a vapor chamber that is 33% larger than that of the M55, ensuring effective cooling during intensive tasks.

The device pairs this processor with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and offers 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. While specifics on a microSD slot remain unclear, the M56 supports dual SIM cards and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity across a range of bands (1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 40, 41, and 78). Connectivity options also include USB 2.0 Type-C, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), and Bluetooth 5.3, though it does not support NFC.

The camera setup is noteworthy, featuring a 50MP primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization, along with the ability to record 4K video at 30fps with 10-bit HDR support. The main camera incorporates a 2x digital zoom instead of a telephoto lens.

Camera specifications of the Galaxy M56

In addition to the primary camera, there’s an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens on the back, while the front sports a 12MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 lens. The device also features Galaxy AI enhancements that assist users with photo editing through tools like Edit Suggestions, Object Eraser for removing unwanted elements, and Image Clipper for transforming images into clip art.

The Galaxy M56 maintains a robust 5,000mAh battery capable of 45W charging, similar to its predecessor.

Even though the M56 doesn’t boast an official dust or water resistance rating, it has seen enhancements in durability compared to the M55. The phone features Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, providing up to four times the scratch resistance when compared to the older model’s glass. Additionally, Samsung has subjected the device to fall tests from a height of 2 meters.

Available color options for the Galaxy M56

Manufactured in India, the Samsung Galaxy M56 will receive software support through to the end of 2030, which includes six OS updates and six years of security patches. It is set to be released in two color variants: Light Green and Black.

The official sale of the Galaxy M56 is expected to launch in India on April 23, with a starting price of ₹25,000, translating to approximately $295 or €260. It will be available for purchase on Amazon India.
