The Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone series is now experiencing the rollout of the Android 15-based One UI 7 update. This series consists of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models. Initially, these devices came pre-installed with Android 13 and Samsung’s One UI 5 interface. The new update enhances the user experience with an updated design and improved features for quick access and media management. Users can also benefit from integrated Gemini AI functionalities.
Availability of One UI 7 Update in India
According to a report from 91Mobiles, the stable One UI 7 update is now available for the Galaxy S23 series in India and certain other markets. This update is being distributed via an over-the-air (OTA) process and includes security patches from April 2025.
To initiate the download for the One UI 7 update, users of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series should navigate to their Settings menu, select Software Update, and then tap on Download and Install. Restarting the device will finalize the installation process.
The update’s total size is approximately 5GB for the standard Galaxy S23 model. For users who have not yet received it, the rollout is happening gradually across the globe, so availability is expected soon.
It’s important to note that the initial rollout was postponed due to a bug linked to the lock screen. Users may temporarily disable their lock screen security to avoid complications during the update and should consider clearing the cache partition after the installation.
Improvements from the One UI 7 update include redesigned buttons, icons, widgets, menus, a notification tray, and control bars. The home screen layout has been enhanced for symmetrical widget placement, enabling users to adjust icon sizes and widget transparency. Customization options are also available for the lock screen clock and other widgets.
Additionally, the One UI 7 update replaces the Edge Panels with the Now Bar feature and introduces Live Notifications for real-time updates.
Furthermore, the integration of Google’s Gemini AI into Samsung applications like Calendar, Clock, Notes, and Reminders has been a notable inclusion. Features powered by AI include Drawing Assist and capabilities for transcribing and summarizing recorded calls.
The camera application receives enhancements as well, offering a refined layout, better mode selections, and improved zoom controls. The update enables users to preserve specific exposure settings within the Pro modes and introduces a new “Best Face” feature for video recordings, which allows audio playback while capturing video.
Lastly, the One UI 7 update permits users to display distinct calendars on widgets and provides additional battery protection options, along with customized performance settings tailored for different gaming experiences.
