Samsung has introduced its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, during the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris on July 10. This device features a large 7.6-inch 120Hz QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display along with a 6.3-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and boasts a 4,400mAh battery compatible with 25W wired and wireless charging. However, some users have recently reported an issue with paint peeling off the device’s body, prompting concerns.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Owners Report Paint Peeling Issue: What We Know

Several users on Reddit have shared experiences regarding paint peeling on their newly acquired Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices. The posts include photographs showing areas where the paint has come off, with notable examples near the power button and at the top left corner of the phone’s rear.

According to an official support page from Samsung, this problem may arise from the use of “incompatible third-party products.” The company has specifically highlighted that the issue may be related to “high-speed third-party” chargers that may not be properly grounded.

Samsung explains that current leakage from these non-compliant chargers can negatively affect the anodisation process of the phone’s metal body, potentially leading to the paint’s delamination. Anodisation is a technique used to enhance the durability and resistance to corrosion of metal surfaces.

Moreover, the company cautioned that using electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) devices while handling the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could also contribute to paint deterioration. To prevent painting issues, Samsung suggests keeping the phone away from the body when using such EMS products.

The company reassured users that well-made third-party chargers from recognized brands, which comply with the Qi standard, should not pose a risk to the device. Nevertheless, Samsung recommends using “authentic Samsung chargers” specifically designed for their devices for optimal performance.

It’s important to note that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not include a charger in its packaging. For those looking to purchase one, a 25W adaptor is currently priced at Rs. 1,699 on the Samsung India website, while a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable can be bought for Rs. 599.
