Samsung to Expand Good Lock Access with One UI 7 Launch

Samsung’s Good Lock has long been recognized as a powerful tool for customizing the One UI interface, offering users the ability to enhance their experience without the need for rooting devices or engaging in complex modifications. Traditionally limited to certain regions and only available through the Galaxy Store, this is set to change as Samsung prepares to roll out Good Lock to a broader audience.

This year, Samsung is making Good Lock accessible on the Google Play Store, significantly expanding its reach to users globally as part of the One UI 7 update.

Having been available for several years, Good Lock provides users with greater control over their devices’ software, allowing them to customize features such as modifying the Samsung launcher to run apps directly on the Z Flip’s cover display. This platform also addresses various limitations found within Samsung’s Android skin.

Samsung confirmed this upcoming expansion in a recent forum post, stating that with One UI 7, Good Lock will be available for users in all countries through the Play Store instead of being restricted to the Galaxy Store.

This change is a highly anticipated development, making Good Lock much more accessible for Galaxy users. Additionally, Samsung is planning a redesign of the Good Lock app itself, aimed at enhancing the user interface and overall usability.

The company has also indicated that users will find new features, including a filter for specific Good Lock applications and a new “My Page” section to aid in managing installed apps. Furthermore, several Good Lock applications that are yet to debut with One UI 7 are expected to receive updates soon.

Currently, One UI 7 is in beta testing on the Galaxy S24 devices and is anticipated to be officially launched with the Galaxy S25 series later in January.

In a market where customization options vary widely among manufacturers—especially when contrasting with brands like Apple that limit user flexibility—this expansion of Good Lock is a commendable step by Samsung. It strengthens the company’s position in the realm of user customization and enhances the overall experience for its Galaxy users.
