Samsung Unveils The Frame Pro with Significant Upgrades
Samsung recently attracted attention at CES with the introduction of The Frame Pro, showcasing its latest advancements in television technology. While there has been some debate regarding the presentation of the TV’s “Mini LED” capabilities, the device offers notable enhancements, including a Wireless One Connect Box. This innovation allows for a simplified connection setup, requiring only a power cable to reach the TV itself, and features an impressive maximum refresh rate of 144Hz.
The Frame Pro will be available in three size options: 65 inches priced at $2,199, 75 inches at $3,199, and 85 inches for $4,299. This placement in the product lineup highlights a distinct shift away from the standard 2025 Frame, which has a maximum size of 65 inches. The premium for the “Pro” model is evident, as the 65-inch standard Frame costs $1,799, making the Pro variant a more expensive but not excessively priced choice, especially considering its design and aesthetic appeal.
One of the standout features of The Frame Pro is the Wireless One Connect box, which operates effectively at distances of up to 30 feet. Samsung continues its tradition of offering customizable bezels, allowing the TV to seamlessly blend into diverse interior designs. The matte, anti-glare display enhances the appearance of showcased artwork, making it look more lifelike rather than akin to a conventional illuminated screen.
However, there are lingering questions regarding the extent of the upgrade provided by the Neo QLED panel. The terminology surrounding “Mini LED” has raised some skepticism; traditional Mini LED televisions utilize a dense array of miniature LEDs behind the screen to precisely manipulate contrast and brightness. In contrast, The Frame Pro places its Mini LEDs exclusively at the bottom of the display, directing the light upward, which may not offer the same level of performance as its counterparts.
Price-wise, the Frame Pro aligns closely with the previous S95D series, avoiding higher tariffs. The recent S95F model is marketed as Samsung’s brightest OLED TV, boasting enhanced glare-free technology that effectively reduces reflections without compromising on quality. Improvements in AI-powered upscaling also contribute to an overall better viewing experience. While the absence of Dolby Vision continues to be a point of contention for some consumers, the growing commitment among streaming platforms towards HDR10 Plus provides a viable alternative for high dynamic range content. The S95 series is currently available for purchase, with an 85-inch option anticipated to be released shortly.
