What you need to know
Samsung is reportedly revitalizing its Galaxy Unpacked event by returning to New York City this July, marking a notable shift in their traditional schedule. If the information holds true, this will be the first time in nearly three years that NYC will host a foldable device launch, following the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 event in 2022.
A recent report from South Korea indicates that Samsung is preparing to hold its summer Galaxy Unpacked event in New York this July.
As detailed in The JoongAng Daily, Samsung is believed to be adjusting its schedule, moving forward the reveal of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 to the early weeks of July.
This shift would represent a significant deviation from Samsung’s established summer routine. Moreover, it signifies NYC’s return as the host city for this premier event, the previous being in August 2022.
In 2023, Samsung introduced its foldable phones in Paris on July 10, making this year’s exact date for the unveiling yet to be confirmed.

An earlier report from The Bell suggested that mass production for the upcoming foldable models would commence in May, sourced from Samsung Display, the manufacturer responsible for the screens. If this timeframe is correct, it likely indicates that preparations are intensifying for the next generation of foldable devices to become available to consumers shortly.
The anticipated May production start aligns well with the buzz surrounding a July launch. The article mentions the possibility of a foldable release in the second half of the year, reinforcing the notion that Samsung is gearing up for another significant Galaxy Unpacked event.
Upgrades incoming
Speculations surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 indicate a substantial upgrade over their predecessors, the Fold 6 and Flip 6. Various reports suggest that significant enhancements and refinements are anticipated across both models.
In line with current technological advancements, it seems likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Additionally, the Z Fold 7 is expected to feature an improved camera system alongside a sleeker design.
Alongside these foldables, the July event is also anticipated to showcase a new Galaxy Watch, Samsung’s anticipated Android XR headset, as well as initial glimpses of the Galaxy Z Flip FE and the much-discussed “tri-fold” device.
