Sarah Jessica Parker acknowledges that her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in both “Sex and the City” and its sequel, “And Just Like That,” is not always the most straightforward character to support. Over the years, Carrie has navigated through tumultuous romances, questionable decisions, and challenging friendships, often making choices that leave viewers divided.
As anticipation builds for the third season of “And Just Like That,” Parker humorously remarked on the “Today With Jenna & Friends” show, hinting that if she acted like Carrie in real life, such behavior could land her in legal trouble.
Reflecting on her long-standing relationship with the character, Parker remarked, “It’s been such an extraordinary experience. I’ve been contractually obliged to portray someone else for nearly 27 years, engaging in actions that, as a married individual with children, would be considered improper.”
She expressed her unwavering confidence in Michael Patrick King, the creator of “AJLT,” and his talented writing team. Parker noted that while some narrative choices may provoke strong reactions from viewers, the process of embodying Carrie remains deeply enjoyable for her. “It’s incredibly fun,” she affirmed.
As for the upcoming season, Parker remained somewhat secretive but hinted at its richness and depth. She described the new stories as “big and juicy,” emphasizing their exploration of adult themes surrounding love, loss, and the complexities of friendship. “It was a hugely enjoyable shoot… it felt big and juicy, and we all enjoy being together,” she shared.
She elaborated on the themes of the season, stating, “The stories are significant, centered on love and finding your place in the world. It challenges the traditional notion of ‘home,’ all while balancing levity and gravity, enhanced by stunning costumes and the vibrant city we adore.” Notably, she confirmed that Aiden, a beloved character, will be making a return this season.

“And Just Like That” Season 3 is set to premiere on Max on May 29. This upcoming season marks a significant wait for fans, as the previous season concluded in August 2023, resulting in an almost two-year hiatus due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that occurred in 2023.
Before the trailer’s release, details about Season 3 remained sparse. Reports indicate that key characters, such as Che Diaz, played by Sara Ramírez, and Professor Nya Wallace, portrayed by Karen Pittman, will not return. Ramírez’s character exited due to plot developments, specifically, the breakup with Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) in the previous season, while Pittman faced scheduling conflicts.
However, the upcoming season will introduce Rosie O’Donnell as a new character named Mary, alongside the talented Patti LuPone joining the cast. Furthermore, the addition of new recurring characters will include Mehcad Brooks (“Law & Order”), Jonathan Cake (“Desperate Housewives”), and Logan Marshall-Green (“Prometheus”). Additionally, Sebastiano Pigazzi and Dolly Wells have been promoted to series regulars, enhancing the ensemble of the show.
