During a press briefing, Memphis police officials confirmed that they believe both Sauce Walka and his companion were targeted in this attack. Investigators do not suspect that the shooting was a random act of violence.
“This appears to be a targeted shooting incident,” stated a representative from the Memphis Police department, as reported by the Houston Chronicle. “The victims were outside near a vehicle when the suspect vehicle approached. Multiple individuals exited, fired shots without engaging in any dialogue, and then re-entered the white vehicle to escape.”
Authorities are calling for anyone with information regarding the shooting to reach out to Memphis CrimeStoppers.
Sauce Walka, who hails from Houston, began his career in hip-hop in 2007 and has since launched various mixtapes. He has collaborated with numerous artists from his hometown, such as Bun B, Lil’ Keke, Slim Thug, and Travis Scott, as well as broader figures in the genre like A$AP Rocky and Migos.
In a prior incident in 2009, Walka was involved in a shooting incident at a Trae Tha Truth concert.
