Saurabh Shukla Discusses Salman Khan’s Support During Kick Shoot
Saurabh Shukla collaborated with Salman Khan on the film Kick 2, showcasing his talents alongside the Bollywood superstar.
In the original Kick film, Saurabh Shukla portrayed the character of Jacqueline Fernandez’s father, sharing scenes with Salman Khan in the lead role. The National Award-winning actor recounted an incident where Khan’s team suggested he modify his performance during a particular scene. However, upon learning of the potential miscommunication, Salman Khan intervened to ensure Shukla could express his reaction authentically.
Reflecting on the moment during an interview with Digital Commentary, Shukla explained, “In the scene, Salman’s character meets me for the first time as my daughter’s romantic interest. The script has him inquiring about my salary and savings, which took me by surprise. My reaction was meant to convey my astonishment and confusion over his questions.”
Shukla recounted a tense exchange with a member of Salman Khan’s staff, who approached him post-shoot to suggest altering his response. “After we shot the scene, one of Salman’s assistants told me that I should change how I reacted to Salman. The assistant believed I should appear intimidated in front of Salman’s character, Devi Lal Singh. I argued that such a reaction wouldn’t align with my character’s authenticity, but the assistant insisted that Salman might not appreciate my initial response,” he shared.
However, Salman Khan quickly addressed the situation by calling his assistant and advising him to allow Shukla to continue his performance uninterrupted. “Salman told his team member not to interfere with my acting. He emphasized that my performance was spot on and precisely what the scene required,” Shukla noted. He mentioned that sometimes, the actions of star teams can lead to confusion or alter perceptions, potentially complicating the actors’ work. “Salman’s backing was crucial… it’s interesting to think about how easily things could have spiraled out of control,” Shukla concluded.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Kick also starred Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in significant roles, adding depth to the film’s narrative.
