Savannah Chrisley Reflects on Impact of Political Views on Career
Savannah Chrisley recently opened up about the consequences of voicing her conservative beliefs, discussing the financial implications and personal convictions that have shaped her journey as a public figure.
At the Republican National Convention in July 2024, the 27-year-old television personality expressed her support for former President Donald Trump, proudly stating that her family is affectionately known as the “Trumps of the South.” This endorsement came as she emphasized her commitment to the political values she holds dear.
Known for her role in the reality series “Chrisley Knows Best,” Chrisley has consistently advocated for Trump and his Make America Great Again initiative on her social media platforms. In a recent development, she announced her intention to pursue a presidential pardon from Trump for her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who are currently serving time for federal bank fraud and tax evasion.
In a candid interview with People magazine, Chrisley acknowledged the cost of her outspoken views. “I lost some deals when I came out politically on why I stood for what I stood for,” she remarked, revealing the financial sacrifices she faced.
Chrisley shared that despite these challenges, her podcast “Unlocked” has provided a platform for her to not only speak her mind but also support her family financially. “It’s giving me a job to provide for my family, and that’s the number one thing that I’m so grateful for,” she said. Following her parents’ incarceration, she became the legal guardian of her younger siblings, Chloe, 12, and Grayson, 18.
However, Chrisley noted that her openness about her conservative beliefs has sometimes hindered her financial opportunities, explaining that potential advertisers were reluctant to collaborate with someone perceived as politically divisive. “That was a tough thing for me because once again, I was being forced into a hole of — do I stand for what I believe in, or do I feed my family?” she asserted. “We should never live in a world where your job is in jeopardy because of a difference of beliefs.”
Despite losing various lucrative opportunities, Chrisley remains steadfast in her convictions. “It was all worth it,” she affirmed, expressing the importance of maintaining integrity in a climate where differing opinions can lead to professional repercussions.
Moreover, she expressed a desire to set a positive example for her siblings, emphasizing that they should feel empowered to express their beliefs openly without succumbing to external pressures.
In addition to her podcast work, Chrisley is actively involved with the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) as a senior fellow focused on criminal justice reform. Last November, she hosted a CPAC event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
Reflecting on her motivations for speaking out, Chrisley acknowledged that her activism was ignited by the challenges her family faced. “Probably a year after my parents left, I just became very outspoken,” she recalled. Through her experience, she gained a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system, which led her to realize that her previous beliefs did not align with the reality she encountered.
“I grew up in the South, where you live, breathe, and die for our country,” she said. “And now, I don’t. I believe nothing.” This dramatic shift in perspective fueled her resolve to advocate for change and bring attention to the inequities she perceived within the system.
As she continues her journey, Chrisley remains dedicated to her cause, determined to raise awareness and challenge the status quo. Her story serves as a reminder of the complexities faced by public figures who dare to voice their beliefs in an increasingly polarized environment.
