Scarlett Johansson is preparing to reunite with her fellow Avengers: Endgame actor Robert Downey Jr. at the upcoming 2025 Academy Awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has recently announced a new slate of celebrity presenters for the 97th Oscars, which is scheduled to occur on March 2, 2025, at the iconic Dolby Theatre. Joining Johansson and Downey Jr. on the stage will be a stellar lineup that includes Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, and Bowen Yang.
This year’s Oscars will signify a notable moment for Johansson and Downey Jr., as they reunite following their appearance in the revered blockbuster Avengers: Endgame. Downey Jr. is confirmed to take on the role of presenter during the event as well.
These new presenter announcements complement the previously revealed list featuring the winners of last year’s acting categories—Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, Robert Downey Jr., and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. While the specific categories each star will be presenting have not yet been disclosed, it is a tradition for the previous year’s Best Actor and Best Actress to present awards in each other’s categories, with supporting awards typically following in a similar manner.
Hosting the ceremony will be Conan O’Brien, who is also fulfilling the roles of producer and showrunner alongside executive producer Katy Mullan. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, O’Brien expressed his intention to use the platform to highlight the repercussions of the wildfires in Los Angeles. “The nature of the planning is fluid, so I aim to ensure that we craft a show that resonates with the current moment on March 2,” O’Brien remarked. “We want to strike a balance between being sensitive and hopeful.”
In addition to the presenters, there have been speculations regarding a potential opening performance featuring the stars of Wicked, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who are both nominated for Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively. Grande, chatting with IndieWire during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, teased, “It would be really fun,” though she refrained from confirming or denying the rumors.
The 2025 Oscars ceremony is set to be broadcast live on ABC and will also be available for streaming on Hulu, starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 2. The official red carpet coverage will begin half an hour earlier, at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
