The top teams in the League of Legends competitive scene are set to showcase their skills on the global stage at the First Stand 2025 tournament, taking place from March 10 to 15 at LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea.
This event marks a significant milestone as the first international tournament to feature the innovative Fearless Draft system, which has earned acclaim from players and coaches within the LEC.
At stake is not only glory but also a coveted position in the bracket stage of the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2025, along with a share of the substantial $1 million prize pool, as the champions of various regional leagues compete fiercely.
Here’s everything you need to know about the First Stand Tournament (FST) 2025.
Competing Teams at First Stand 2025
Among the heavyweights participating are Hanwha Life Esports, Top Esports, Karmine Corp, Team Liquid, and CTBC Flying Oyster, all of whom clinched victories in their respective leagues during the first split.
Hanwha Life Esports, in particular, has proven to be a formidable force, recently toppling the reigning World Champions, T1, and subsequently overcoming three additional teams, including a notable victory over Gen.G in the finals of the LCK Cup.
Meanwhile, Top Esports battled through the lower bracket to secure the LPL (China) Split 1 title, while Karmine Corp and Team Liquid achieved dominant 3-0 sweeps against their rivals, G2 Esports and 100 Thieves, respectively, in the LEC (Europe) and LTA (Americas) Cross-Conference.
CTBC Flying Oyster also made waves, earning their place in this tournament by overcoming Talon Esports in the final of the LCP (Pacific) Split 1 and are now eager to leave their mark on the international scene.
Tournament Format
The FST 2025 will utilize the Fearless Draft system, which mandates that teams select different champions for each match, thereby encouraging diverse strategies and enhancing the overall viewing experience.
During the round-robin phase, the five teams will face off in best-of-three series. The top four teams will advance to the knockout stage, while the team finishing at the bottom will be eliminated from contention.
In the knockout rounds, the remaining teams will compete in best-of-five matches formatted as single elimination. The top seed will challenge the fourth seed, while the second and third seeds will go head-to-head.
The victorious teams from these semifinals will then advance to the best-of-five grand final, where the inaugural FST champion will be crowned. This champion will also secure a spot in the MSI 2025 bracket stage.
